Living Hope

How low they build who do not reach the stars
Whose efforts are not challenged by their dreams;
Whose weak and frail ambition ever wars
With goals that draw them toward the Heavenly streams;
That never reach beyond the common place
To lead one toward the highest noblest goal;
That are content to falter in life's race
And never seek fulfillment of the soul.
Oh Lord, help us to keep our dreams alive,
To reach beyond life's feeble stunted grasp,
And in supernal labors dare to strive
And to our bosoms Heaven's ambitions clasp.
Help us to know the life that's life indeed,
And those things excellent to seek and love,
And set our goals and let your spirit lead
To that Celestial Home with Thee above.
