To Live or Die

God made the rules long, long ago
He wrote them out so all could know
He gave us freedom to live or die
It grieves Him when we will not try;
In His Kingdom we should live
- Where all blessings He freely gives;
Spiritual blessings they happen to be
These are the ones by which we see.
We stumble and grope in the dark
Trying to make life one big lark
Some teach us we should pray and sing
Others say "do your own thing."
Diotrephes away back when
Wanted the preeminence among men
Exalted himself not the word
He refused to let it be heard.
We turn our loved ones over to fate
Desperate wolves wait at the gate
Distraught parents search night and day
Some old wolf lead their child away.
